Projects

The Association's Board developed an initial list of projects and activities focused on the following:

Education

Training and education for Amateurs in a variety of areas including: participating in emergency communications, general operation of Amateur equipment, design and implementation of advanced digital communications systems, etc.  The Association will accomplish this through meetings, which will be open to both licensed Amateurs and the general public, providing speakers or lecturers for other area meetings and through the Association's web site.

Digital Repeaters

Design and implement a series of digital repeater systems that can be utilized as the foundation and basis for new modes and applications.

Analog Repeaters

Continue to maintain a number of interlinked repeater systems for use in Amateur communications.  In addition to providing facilities for licensed Amateurs to communicate amongst each other these repeaters will support a variety of emergency communications systems, including: ARES, RACES and SKYWARN on an as-needed basis.

Propagation Beacons

Construct and maintain a number of propagation beacons on various Amateur Service microwave allocations.  These beacons will be utilized by Amateurs to monitor propagation of various frequency transmissions.  Individuals can also use these beacons to measure the effectiveness of their receiving systems and antennas.

Geographic Area

The Association is based in the greater Springfield, Massachusetts area.  The primary service area includes the western four counties of Massachusetts and parts of Hartford and Tolland counties in Connecticut.
